The Crescent Moon: A Mix by Claptone for Full Moon Fest

Claptone has made a mixtape for the electronic music subsite for VICE magazine US called THUMP – we dig it alot, loads of deep tunes combined with some seamless and very downtoearth-ish mixes, this must be one of the best mixes I’ve heard for the past weeks. Its originally made for the Full moon party in NYC on the 8th of august where Claptone is playing.

Check out/download the mixtape here:

Official Video: Die Antwoord – Pitbull Terrier

We have always loved Die Antwoord here at Bassdrop.

They make some of the baddest music videos ever and their very original music goes right with it.

Somehow this track slipped under my radar. It is off the album Donker Mag which came out just last month.

Check the video and get inspired for the weekend! ;-)

Tender games announce album release

THIS is some delicious stuff for your sunday, all chill, funky and as satisfying as it can get on a sunny day, like today.

Tender Games is the new project between one of my favorite upcomings Marlon Hoffstadt and his old pal’ HRRSN, head of the Berlin-based Well Done! imprint. Both established producers on their own, they strive away from house-based sounds to create an LP that has all the makings of a future soul classic.

A little c/p from their press release:
The duo’s disparate influences have come together to create a distinctive new sound; the 20 year-old Hoffstadt’s house leanings are prominent, whilst HRRSN has drawn from garage, blues and even folk. The album came together over the space of a year or so in the enviably decked-out studio of fellow Suolmates Chopstick & Johnjon, and features a wealth of guest vocalists and live instrumentation courtesy of HRRSN. The finished result is one which sounds lush, organic, and most of all, fresh.

Official Video: Erlend Øye – Garota

Garota is the latest single from Norwegian singer/songwriter/producer/wizard Erlend Øye, whom you might know as one part of the duo Kings of Convenience or from his band The Whitest Boy Alive. And what a single it is!

If you think that voice sounds familiar that’s probably because you’ve heard it before (hint: Röyksopp‘s two massive hits “Poor Leno” and “Remind Me”)

Anyway.. Turn up the volume, kick back and enjoy this one!

Hot Since 82 – Knee Deep in July ’14

One of my absolute favorite DJ’s of 2013 has made a little setlist called “Knee Deep in July”. In this set you’ll find a variety of deep house and uplifting techno, which kind of reminds one of mr. Hot since 82′s own productions. Some of the tracks are made by some of the best and most prominent artists in the biz, and some are newcommers – take a listen for yourselves.

Except by the setlist from above, the british superstar made a 2.5 hour podcast a week ago, which is very recommendable aswell.

RL Grime – Core (Music Video)

RL Grime has always been seen as one of the most colorful and inventive producers in trap/bass music, with sounds taken from hip hop, dub step and techno he has always made us all go “whoop” every time a new track drops from him.

The first single of his full length album, that will be released later this year, is called “Core”. And for this one, he has made a great music video with the directors David Rudnick and Daniel Swan.

Check it out for yourselves.

RL Grime’s album is out later this year on ‘WeDidIt’. Go buy “Core” now on iTunes or Beatport.

faustixtear

Hervé & Zebra Katz – Tear The House Up (Faustix Remix)

Fresh out from Roskilde Festival, Faustix is yet again rumbling about with a fresh production. This time it’s an official remix from the Diplo associated label, Mad Decent.

Along with artists like Sinden and Sleepy Tom, Faustix delivers a heavy hitting 808 remix of the banger “Tear The House Up”. The original track has already rammed the countries worldwide like a Mærsk container ship and the Faustix remix truly does the same.
Have a go at the track, which is out along with 5 other remixes by the 15th of July.

We here at Bassdrop are stoked! Get it while it’s hot!
